Carrot, Cauliflower and French Fries


A simple, tasty dish with steamed carrots and deep fried cauliflower.

What you need:
  • 1/2 kilo carrots (cleaned and cut lengthway in half)
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 2 cm ginger (grated)
  • 1 garlic clove (pressed)
  • 1 tbsp fresh coriander (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp limejuice
  • 1/2 tsp great lime rind
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 cauliflower
  • 4 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 free range egg
  • a few hands of bread crums
  • some black pepper (freshly ground) 

How to prepare the carrots:
  1. Steam the carrots for 10 minutes.
  2. Warm the butter in a saucepan and add the ginger and garlic for 1 minute.
  3. Add the fresh coriander, lime juice and lime rind with the butter, ginger and garlic.
  4. Add the sauce to the steamed carrots.
 How to prepare the cauliflower:
  1. Cook the cauliflower just to soften a bit.
  2. Put the bread crumbs, freshly ground black pepper and egg in a bowl and mix well.
  3. Add the pieces of cauliflower to the mixture.
  4. Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry until browned.
Serve with french fries or baked potatoes.
